*Dramas I’ve already seen or partially watched prior to this experiment.

The list and summaries I based my decisions on is from d-addicts wiki’s. Continue reading for reasons behind trying out the above dramas.

Carnation

The story is based on the life of fashion designer Koshino Ayako, who passed away in 2006 at the age of 92. Although she was a successful designer in Japan, she also single-handedly raised three daughters who followed in her footsteps to become internationally known designers, named Hiroko, Junko, and Michiko.–tokyograph.com

As of this writing, I’ve already made it through maybe 70 or so episodes. I’ve stopped watching this drama, it was enjoyable, and tugged on my heart strings, and I loved it. It’s just so long! I will hopefully revisit it again, but just not right now.

Stepfather Step

“Stepfather Step” is about a skilled thief without a single relative (Kamikawa) who ends up becoming the stepfather of twins. The twins are in fourth grade and suddenly lost both of their parents. Using his know-how from his past as a thief, he not only raises the twins but settles various puzzling incidents that are happening in the neighborhood. —Tokyohive

Why do I wanna watch? I love fish out of water stories. This looks like it’ll be just that.

Lucky Seven

Seven detectives working together to solve a crime. I don’t like cop shows or procedural, but if all the characters are unique and their interactions interesting, it could be fun.

Hungry*

I’ve already completed this drama. It’s about a failed rock band starting a restaurant. It’s fun but totally forgettable.

Aibou S10

Why I wanna watch? 10 seasons long, there must be something to it, right? The pictures make it look like a buddy cop thing. Guess I’ll find out.

Suugaku Joshi Gakuen

Why I wanna watch? Girls doing math. I like math. I’m curious to see how they include formulas and theory in the show. It’s going to be ridiculous.

Renai Neet ~Wasureta Koi no Hajimekata

Why I wanna watch? Romantic comedy. Bunch of characters that don’t know how to date. It’ll be either funny or way too embarrassing to watch.

13 sai no Hello Work

Why I wanna watch? Dude goes back in time and meets his 13 year old self. He gets to instruct him on what to do to change his future. I LOVE TIME TRAVEL! I’m so excited for this one.

Saba Doru

Why I wanna watch? A woman who is a super popular idol, but her secret identity is that of an invisible teacher. Or is it the other way around? Whatever. It could be funny, but I don’t really have high hopes for it.

Switch Girl!!

Why I wanna watch? A popular girl at school who is the total opposite at home. I have no idea why I want to watch this one. I’m just curious.

Unmei no Hito

The story is inspired by the scandal 40 years ago surrounding the secret pact on Okinawa’s reversion. The central character is Ryosuke (played by Motoki), a newspaper reporter who prides himself on getting scoop after scoop and who exposes the political deceit behind the scandal. Matsu Takako (34) plays his wife, while Maki Yoko (28) plays an official in the Department of Foreign Affairs who is a key figure in the story. —Tokyograph

Why I wanna watch? It sounds interesting. Yup. That’s all I got.

Not-so-seriously studying Japanese. Not-so-slightly obsessed with SMAP. This blog is an outlet for my SMAP love and a way to practice my Japanese. I'm not fluent but hopefully I am successful with at least getting the gist of what goes on.
